If, like me, you get books from RNIB, they’ve added an audio version of my first one to their list: “A cook’s tour: Baking Blind goes global”. It’s the tale of my prize-winning trip around the world, cooking in professional kitchens and with home cooks with all the recipes (and there are videos too).
If someone asks, they might do an audio version of my latest one: “It could be you” which is all about coping with the onset of visual or any other impairment. Otherwise, both are still available through Amazon and Kindle.
Meanwhile, the heat seems to have brought some of the harvest forward. Already, we have made about 15 litres of juice (apple, apple and rhubarb, grape), figs roasted with honey and walnuts, bottled grapes and much more to come. Imagine doing all of this in a hot kitchen!
For lazing in the garden, have been re-reading all the Michael Dibden books about Italian detective, Aurelio Zen (no idea if that’s the right spelling) and the highlight was “Cosi fan tutti” read by the wonderful Michael Kitchen and following the plot of the comic opera. A true delight.
And, last but not least, hoping to register a new charity soon to share tips about living with visual impairment. Do get in touch if you’ve got ideas to share.
