Forgive me if I’m being jaundiced but this recent report suggests that disabled people are at the heart of job-creation success for private PIP contractors and even some DWP staff.
Disabled people with lifelong conditions facing ‘unnecessary’ Pip reassessments

It seems that the Department and/or contractors believe in miracle cures that justify repeated PIP assessments of people with some of the most difficult, lifelong and incurable health problems.
Each of those reassessments means money: payments to the assessment contractors; salaries and job security for the DWP staff handling the cases; often benefit cuts for the people whose health hasn’t improved. Surely there are some significant savings to be made without compromising the principle that the State supports those with most need due to their enduring life-changing conditions? Or are their murkier plots afoot?
And for those who think that life on benefits is one of luxury, BBC Radio 4’s “More or Less” today at 0900 gives the accurate figures. People are better off in work.
