The delicious rain is keeping us indoors but the sous-chef is busy: unpicking his miniature medals from their distinctly tatty ribbons for polishing and rehanging to wear at an imminent family wedding. Nowadays, one wonders how many people would face such a task: having served long enough to have several (including a rare one from Borneo); still having occasion to wear them; having found someone capable of the re-mounting.
What did you do today? Oh, I was buffing up my medals!
