This week I’ve been recording more recipes for the national Talking News Federation. They offer all the local Talking News organisations a recipe a month, plus the usual news and information, so I treated them to bottled apricots, chocolate truffle torte (care of the blessed Delia Smith) and pear almondines. Both the puddings keep well in the freezer, so all the recipes mean lots of deliciousness later in the year.
Later, roger turned up with even more apples which were quickly turned into puree with honey and then layered with blackberries and bottled. The house smells of all the cooking!
What I really need is a source of these 1 litre clip top storage jars at low cost and another very large pan for the bottling process.
And, meanwhile, the sous-chef has stuck all the “dropping” bees on to new sticks with proper glue – now destined for flower arrangements rather than risking them near food.
