Celebrating blind awareness month, fabulous volunteers from all over the UK gathered near Winchester last weekend for the annual conference of the national Talking News Federation. These are the stalwarts from local Associations who create audio recordings for people who have difficulty reading local newspapers, provided through the post. The new “Hear Service” being introduced has the potential to reach even more people through their smart speakers.
I was privileged to present the Innovation prize and a certificate to two of the local TNAs. They are working hard to find even better ways of supporting people like me who can’t see and others for whom reading is a challenge with myriad new ideas. Great prospects for the future.
